Guided Leadscrew Feature for ElectroCraft Linear Actuators

Dover, NH — (August 10, 2009)

ElectroCraft Guided Leadscrew feature provides improved performance for applications requiring anti-rotation

ElectroCraft today announced the release of the Guided Leadscrew feature to complement their AxialPowerTM Plus, a stepper motors based linear actuators product line. Simple and reliable, the cross-pin design, shown below, provides a low cost solution while providing the anti-rotation characteristic required in some applications. This new product is available immediately for global delivery.

“When applying a linear actuator design in a machine, many applications require a device to keep the leadscrew from spinning along with the motor rotor. In this configuration, the stationary leadscrew and rotating “nut” built into the motor rotor produce the ability to extend and/or retract. Some anti-rotation designs available on the market today are intricate, subject to contamination, and add significant parasitic drag. The ElectroCraft solution provides a simple, low cost, low friction and effective way to provide the anti-rotate attribute when an application requires the leadscrew to track with minimal or no residual contact within the system design.” says Rob Kerber, Vice President of Marketing at ElectroCraft. “Engineers needing increased positional accuracy with the ability to have the motor assembly restrict rotation of the leadscrew will appreciate the simplicity of this design.” The ElectroCraft Guided Leadscrew feature complements their broad line of stepper based linear motors and will be available as part of the ElectroCraft GoFigure Program. The GoFigure Program allows customers to select from a variety of pre-engineered motor options and configurations to reduce the development cycle and improve their time-to-market. The web-based motor configuration tool can be found at www.gofigureamotor.com or www.electrocraft.com.

In addition to their robust design, the ElectroCraft Guided Leadscrew feature also delivers:

  • Exceptional control and positional accuracy in bi-directional applications
  • Precise linear resolution (0.5o  of rotational movement during a change in direction)
  • Smooth axial motion
  • High efficiency due to low frictional loss

This feature is available on a wide range of products, screw pitches, frame sizes, and is also available with both leadscrew and ballscrew configurations.
